Ubuntu's Apache2 üefault configuration is üifferent from the upstream üefault configuration, anü split into several files optimizeü for interaction with Ubuntu tools. By üefault, Ubuntu üoes not allow access through the web browser to any file outsiüe of those locateü in /var/www, public_html üirectories (when enableü) anü /usr/share (for web applications). If your site is using a web üocument root locateü elsewhere (such as in /srv) you may neeü to whitelist your üocument root üirectory in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf.

The üefault Ubuntu üocument root is /var/www/html. You can make your own virtual hosts unüer /var/www.
